BALTIMORE -- Odúbel Herrera singled in the first inning of Wednesday's 4-1 Phillies win at Camden Yards to extend his on-base streak to an impressive 42 games.
It is the fifth-longest streak in franchise history, and the seventh-longest streak in the Major Leagues since 2014. But Herrera needs to double the streak to match the all-time MLB record holder -- Ted Williams had an incredible 84-game on-base streak in 1949.
Herrera would need to reach base in every Phillies game until July 1 to match Williams' mark.
Mike Schmidt holds the Phils' record at 56 games (1981-82).
