List of non-tendered free agents by team

Tuesday marked MLB's non-tender deadline, meaning teams had to decide whether to offer the players on their 40-man roster with fewer than six years of service time a contract for next season.

If a team chose to "non-tender" a player -- as in, not offer him a contract for next season -- that player immediately became a free agent.

Below is a team-by-team look at the players who were not tendered contracts for 2022.

AL EAST

Blue Jays: None
The Blue Jays offered contracts to all of their eligible players, including Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who is arbitration eligible for the first time. They also tendered a contract to Teoscar Hernández, who is arbitration eligible for a second time. More >

Orioles: None
The O's avoided arbitration with three players -- Anthony Santander ($3.15 million), Jorge López ($1.5 million) and Paul Fry ($850,000) -- while tendering contracts to three others: John Means, Trey Mancini and Tanner Scott. Means is eligible for arbitration for the first time, while it's the third time Mancini has been eligible. More >

Rays: None
The Rays avoided arbitration with Ji-Man Choi by agreeing to a one-year deal, and they tendered contracts to each of their other 13 arbitration-eligible players. More >

Red Sox: OF Tim Locastro
Boston non-tendered Locastro after claiming the outfielder off waivers from the Yankees on Nov. 5. The right-handed hitter batted .190 in nine games for New York last season. Locastro was the only player non-tendered by the Red Sox, who avoided arbitration with one of their key relievers by re-signing Ryan Brasier to a one-year, $1.4 million deal on Tuesday. More >

Yankees: None
Despite some speculation around Gary Sánchez’s status with the club, the Yankees tendered the 28-year-old catcher a contract ahead of Tuesday's deadline. The offer comes after Sánchez slashed .204/.307/.423 with 23 home runs and 54 RBIs in 117 games last season. More >

AL CENTRAL

Guardians: None
The Guardians tendered contracts to all of their eligible players ahead of the deadline, most notably 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber. Bradley Zimmer, Josh Naylor and Franmil Reyes were among the other players to receive offers from Cleveland.

Royals: LHP Richard Lovelady
Lovelady, who underwent Tommy John surgery in September and isn't expected to pitch next season, was the lone Royal non-tendered ahead of the deadline. More >

Tigers: LHP Matthew Boyd, C Grayson Greiner
Boyd, who had been the Tigers' longest-tenured player aside from Miguel Cabrera, was non-tendered after seven years with the organization. The left-hander put up a 3.44 ERA through his first 13 starts last season before landing on the injured list due to left arm discomfort. He returned briefly in August, but made just two starts before going back on the IL and ultimately undergoing surgery to repair the flexor tendon in his left forearm. More >

Twins: LHP Danny Coulombe, RHP Trevor Megill, RHP Juan Minaya
Along with non-tendering the aforementioned trio of relievers, the Twins agreed to one-year deals with right-handers Tyler Duffey and Jharel Cotton, as well as left-hander Caleb Thielbar. They also tendered contracts to left-hander Taylor Rogers, catcher Mitch Garver and infielder Luis Arraez. More >

White Sox: None
Not only did the White Sox not lose anyone at the non-tender deadline, but they instead made a significant addition by signing Leury García to a three-year deal, according to a source. More >

AL WEST

Angels: UTIL Phil Gosselin
In a bit of a surprise move, the Halos opted not to tender a contract to Gosselin, who slashed .261/.314/.362 with seven homers in 104 games last season, all while providing plenty of versatility in both the infield and outfield. More >

Astros: None
Each of the Astros' six arbitration-eligible players -- left-hander Framber Valdez, infielder/outfielder Aledmys Díaz and right-handers Rafael Montero, Phil Maton, Ryne Stanek and Josh James -- received a contract offer ahead of the deadline. More >

Athletics: None
The A's tendered contracts to each of their 10 eligible players ahead of Tuesday's deadline, with three players -- infielder Tony Kemp, outfielder Chad Pinder and righty Deolis Guerra -- agreeing to deals to avoid arbitration. More >

Mariners: None
Seattle tendered contracts to 33 players, including 10 who were eligible for arbitration. The Mariners had just four players already under Major League contracts for 2022 -- starting pitchers Chris Flexen and Marco Gonzales, reliever Ken Giles and first baseman Evan White. More >

Rangers: C David Garcia, C Yohel Pozo, OF Billy McKinney
With five catchers on their 40-man roster, the Rangers non-tendered a pair of backstops ahead of the deadline. Pozo made his MLB debut in 2021, slashing .284/.312/.378 in 21 games, while García was the club's No. 25 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. It's possible that Texas will try to re-sign at least one of those players to a Minor League deal. More >

NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST

Braves: INF Johan Camargo, RHP Jasseel De La Cruz, RHP Richard Rodríguez
The Braves had to make decisions on a plethora of players ahead of the deadline, with Camargo, Rodríguez and De La Cruz ultimately being non-tendered. On the other hand, Atlanta signed Guillermo Heredia to a one-year deal Orlando Arcia to a two-year deal, while also tendering contracts to Max Friend, Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley, Adam Duvall, Luke Jackson, Mike Soroka, Tyler Matzek, A.J. Minter and Sean Newcomb. More >

Marlins: OF Lewis Brinson
The Marlins techincally designated Brinson for assignment to free up a roster spot after acquiring Joey Wendle from the Rays on Tuesday. Since Brinson was DFA'd ahead of the non-tender deadline, though, he's treated the same way as a non-tendered player. More >

Mets: RHP Robert Gsellman, RHP Stephen Nogosek, OF Mark Payton
Gsellman is the most notable of this trio, with the Mets non-tendering the longtime reliever following an injury-plagued 2021 season. The 28-year-old righty put up a 3.77 ERA while being limited to just 28 2/3 innings while rehabbing from a torn right lat muscle. More >

Nationals: 1B Mike Ford, RHP Ryne Harper, RHP Wander Suero
Suero turned in three scoreless appearances during the 2019 World Series and posted a 3.80 ERA over the abbreviated 2020 season, but he struggled to a 6.33 ERA over 42 2/3 innings in '21. More >

Phillies: LHP, Kyle Dohy, OF Roman Quinn
Though the Phillies non-tendered Dohy, the club immediately re-signed him to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training. As for Quinn, the speedy outfielder had been designated for assignment on Monday. Meanwhile, Rhys Hoskins, Zach Eflin and José Alvarado all received contract offers. More >

Brewers: 1B Daniel Vogelbach, RHP John Curtiss
With the Brewers signing Rowdy Tellez to a one-year deal on Tuesday, they opted to non-tender Vogelbach -- another left-handed power-hitting first baseman. As for Curtiss, he's expected to miss the 2022 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in September. More >

Cardinals: SS José Rondón
Rondón proved to be a versatile piece for the Cardinals last season, but the club opted to non-tender him to free up more opportunities for some of its prospects. The 27-year-old hit .263 while making appearances at first base, second, third base and each of the corner outfield spots. He also served as a designated hitter, pinch-hitter and pinch-runner last season to go along with previous experience at shortstop. More >

Cubs: RHP Jason Adam, OF Michael Hermosillo
Though the Cubs parted ways with Adam and Hermosillo, they tendered contracts to two key arbitration-eligible players on Tuesday: catcher Willson Contreras and outfielder Ian Happ. More >

Pirates: LHP Steven Brault, RHP Chad Kuhl, INF Colin Moran
Kuhl was the only new name added to the mix on Tuesday, as the Pirates had already designated Brault and Moran for assignment one day earlier. Meanwhile, Kevin Newman, believed to be a potential non-tender candidate leading up to the deadline, instead agreed to a one-year deal. More >

Reds: RHP Brandon Bailey
Though the Reds non-tendered Bailey, who missed all of last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, they promptly re-signed him to a Minor League deal.

NL WEST

D-backs: RHP Taylor Clarke
Christian Walker was believed to be another non-tender candidate for the D-backs, but the club instead backed its 30-year-old first baseman by offering him a contract after he slashed .244/.315/.382 last season. As for Clarke, he posted a 4.99 ERA over 78 appearances with Arizona over the last three seasons. More >

Dodgers: LHP Andrew Vasquez
The 28-year-old Vasquez appeared in two games for Los Angeles this season, striking out three batters over 1 2/3 innings. The Dodgers tendered contracts to the rest of their unsigned players, including a trio of arbitration-eligible stars in Trea Turner, Cody Bellinger and Julio Urías. More >

Giants: RHP Sam Delaplane, OF Luis González, LHP Joe Palumbo
No surprise among this non-tendered trio, with the Giants agreeing to terms with John Brebbia, Jarlín García and Austin Slater, while also tendering contracts to Mike Yastrzemski, Darin Ruf, Curt Casali and Dominic Leone.

Padres: LHP Jose Castillo, LHP Matt Strahm, RHP Trey Wingenter
The most notable move made by the Padres leading up the deadline was acquiring catcher Jorge Alfaro from the Marlins, then tendering him a contract for next season. More >

Rockies: None
The Rockies reached agreements with relievers Daniel Bard and Tyler Kinley, while tendering contract offers to all of its other arbitration-eligible players, including Kyle Freeland, Ryan McMahon and Raimel Tapia, among others. More >
