Arenado belts 20th homer, ties Bryce for NL lead

LOS ANGELES -- Dodger Stadium at night is supposed to suppress power, but these days there isn't a park big enough to hold Rockies slugger Nolan Arenado.
Arenado launched his 20th homer -- tying him with the Nationals' Bryce Harper for the National League lead -- in the eighth inning of the Rockies' 3-1 win over the Dodgers on Friday night at Dodger Stadium.
After a hit and two strikeouts against Dodgers starter Rich Hill, Arenado hit lefty reliever Scott Alexander's 93.1 mph sinker into the left-field bleachers -- a projected 405 feet with an exit velocity of 103 mph, according to Statcast™.
"I try not to do anything different -- just drive it, hit the ball hard, that's all I'm really trying to do," said Arenado, who has seven homers in the last 10 games. "I hit that ball good. To be honest, I feel I've hit some balls better than that that haven't gone out. Whatever.
"He's a really good pitcher, big-time sinker. I think he just missed his spot."

In interviews on Thursday and Friday, Arenado called on the Rockies -- who entered the game three games under .500 and eight games back of the D-backs in the NL West -- to begin turning around a disappointing season.
Friday's game, the Rockies' second straight victory, was the kind Arenado hopes becomes common.
Starting pitcher Tyler Anderson went a career-high eight innings, struck out eight and yielded no runs on four hits. Arenado's homer came between Pat Valaika's homer off Hill in the fifth and Chris Iannetta's off Yimi García in the ninth.
"If we're on the good side of it, yeah, you love all those games," Arenado said.
