DENVER -- Nolan Arenado decided he needed a milestone homer of his own Saturday night.
Arenado swatted his 200th career home run, a three-run shot to give his team a 4-3 lead over the Orioles, against pitcher Andrew Cashner in the bottom of the third inning of a 9-6 loss.
“Two hundred homers is really cool,” said Arenado, who drove in five runs. “I’m really happy about it. I’m going to enjoy it. Probably not today. I’ve got a day game tomorrow, but I’ll probably enjoy it tomorrow.”
It was Arenado’s third homer in two games.

“I feel pretty good right now,” he said. “I’m trying to slow the game down, slow my body down and just have quality at-bats, and I feel like I have. I’m going to try not to overthink it or overdo it. Just continue to do what I’m doing.”
The Arenado marker, his 14th this season, came one day after Trevor Story became the fastest shortstop in history to reach 100 homers (148 games). Story also hit his 101st to win the game over the Orioles in the bottom of the ninth, 8-6.
“It’s incredible,” Story said of Arenado. “He’s such a special guy, a special talent. No one works harder. It doesn’t surprise me. I’ve seen it for a while now. It’s crazy to say, this has become normal -- him doing special things like that.”
