2020 Nats schedule features AL West tilts
WASHINGTON -- Major League Baseball revealed the schedule for the 2020 season on Monday, the 16th season in Nationals history since baseball returned to D.C. in 2005.
For Nats fans already looking to get a jump start on next season, here are a few highlights to look forward to:
1) The Nationals will open the season on March 26th, the earliest start of the season in team history, against the Mets at Citi Field. It’s the second straight season the Nats will open up in New York. After a three-game series with the Mets, the Nats head to Miami for three games with the Marlins.
2) Washington’s home opener will also come against the Mets, on April 2 at Nationals Park, the 13th season in the park’s history. That initial homestand will mirror the opening road trip, with three games against New York, followed by three against Miami.
3) Next season’s Interleague matchup will be against the American League West, and includes trips to face Seattle (April 13-14), the Angels (May 11-13) and Texas (May 26-28). This will mark Washington’s first visit to the Rangers since June 2005 and its first games at the new Globe Life Field, which opens next season.
4) The Mariners (May 19-20), Astros (July 3-5th) and A’s (Aug 10-12) will all visit D.C. next season. For Oakland, this will be its first visit to Nationals Park since it opened in 2008. With this visit, all 29 other clubs will have visited Nats Park.
5) The annual Beltway series against the Orioles takes place at Camden Yards from Aug. 8-9 and at Nationals Park Sept. 15-16.
6) Of the Nationals’ final 30 games, 28 of them will come against teams in the National League East, concluding the year with a three-game series against the Phillies from Sept. 25-27.
