Join interactive watch parties in MLB's Virtual Ballpark every week in September

MLB's Virtual Ballpark is back to give fans around the world a new way to watch baseball down the stretch.

Beginning Wednesday, the league's virtual ballpark will host interactive watch parties of a select regular-season game each Wednesday through the end of September. The first watch party will feature the Twins and the Rays at 6:50 p.m. ET.

Fans can access the Virtual Ballpark for free from any internet-connected device by logging in with their MLB account. The interactive watch parties feature a 3D representation of the game, using MLB's Gameday 3D product that will be synched with the game broadcast.

Fans will be able to see up-close 3D views of every play from every angle, chat with each other via spatial audio and participate in a scavenger hunt around the ballpark.

Another feature will allow fans to talk with friends using a new party system and earn points to use in a digital shop for special digital jerseys.

Here's the full schedule (all times ET):

Wednesday, Sept. 4: Twins at Rays, 6:50 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 11: Reds at Cardinals. 7:45 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 18: Giants at Orioles, 6:35 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept. 25: Rays at Tigers, 6:40 p.m.

Standard local broadcast will still be available for fans to watch via cable, satellite, streaming or via MLB.TV for out-of-market fans.

MLB's Virtual Ballpark was unveiled to fans last season for the Celebrity Softball Game during All-Star Week. Produced in partnership with Improbable, a London-based technology firm that specializes in creating and managing virtual spaces, the virtual park is the first of its kind in a professional sports league. The design is meant to simulate a real baseball stadium to bring the usual ballpark experience to the virtual world.
