New voices, console join MLB The Show 22
Every year, the developers at San Diego Studio find new ways to make the MLB The Show video game a more realistic and immersive baseball experience.
The latest version – MLB The Show 22, which is scheduled to be released April 5 – raises the bar even further with features such as expanded cross-platform capability, more than 150 playable Legends, a brand-new commentary team and more.
This year’s game will be available for three consoles: PlayStation, Xbox and, for the first time ever, Nintendo Switch. With cross-platform play, cross-platform progression and cross-platform save, you can now play the game with friends, earn content, save your progress and pick up right where you left off on any of the three consoles. All you need is a proper internet connection.
One content highlight this year is the inclusion of more than 150 playable Legends, including new additions such as Hall of Fame pitchers Randy Johnson and Mike Mussina. Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Dontrelle Willis, Joe Mauer and a bevy of other greats are also available in the game for the first time.

Those who pre-ordered the MVP edition or Digital Deluxe edition of MLB The Show 22 will not only get early access to the game, they will also be able to collect player items in Legends Choice packs, with cards designed by famous manga artist Takashi Okazaki.
He also made the cover art for these two editions featuring this year’s cover athlete, Shohei Ohtani.
MLB The Show 22 will also have new voices calling the action: play-by-play announcer Jon “Boog” Sciambi and color analyst Chris Singleton. The duo, who called baseball games together on ESPN Radio for a decade, contributed 350 hours and approximately 45,000 lines of dialogue as part of MLB The Show 22’s entirely new commentary system.
Real-life broadcast audio from MLB games called by Sciambi and Singleton is also in the game in order to give it a more authentic experience.
“Working on MLB The Show 22 has been an absolute thrill and is certainly one the coolest and unique things I have done in my career,” Sciambi said. “Partnering with [Singleton] has made it extra special because I get to share the experience with a friend.”
Play MLB the Show 22 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch beginning April 5. Early access to the game will begin on April 1 for all who pre-ordered either the MVP edition or Digital Deluxe edition.
