The deadline by which players and teams must make option decisions for the 2025 season comes just five days after the conclusion of the World Series. This includes opt-outs, player options, club options and mutual options.

Here’s a list of players with 2025 options sorted by option type.

OPT-OUTS

Cody Bellinger, 1B/OF, Cubs
Two years left on three-year, $80 million deal
Bellinger’s opt-out decision is a toss-up after he declined across the board in 2024, hitting .266 with 18 homers, nine steals and a .751 OPS.

Gerrit Cole, SP, Yankees
Four years left on nine-year, $324 million deal
The Yankees can void Cole’s opt-out by adding an extra year at $36 million to his contract, which would keep the 2023 AL Cy Young Award winner in the Bronx through 2029.

Lucas Giolito, SP, Red Sox
One year left on two-year, $38.5 million deal
Giolito was one of Boston’s big additions last offseason, but he missed all of 2024 after undergoing an internal brace procedure to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow in March.

Mitch Haniger, OF, Mariners
One year left on three-year, $43.5 million deal
Haniger left Seattle to sign a three-year deal with the Giants in free agency after the 2022 season, only to be traded back to the Mariners last offseason. He has slashed .208/.279/.345 (80 OPS+) with 18 homers in 182 games during the first two years of the contract.

Rhys Hoskins, 1B, Brewers
One year left on two-year, $34 million deal
After missing 2023 while recovering from surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, Hoskins left the Phillies to sign with the Brewers as a free agent last offseason. He produced 26 homers with 82 RBIs in his first year with Milwaukee but also posted career lows in batting average (.214) and OPS (.722).

Sean Manaea, SP, Mets
One year left on two-year, $28 million deal
Manaea was an excellent addition to the Mets’ rotation in 2024, recording a 3.47 ERA with 184 strikeouts over a career-high 181 2/3 innings.

Nick Martinez, SP/RP, Reds
One year left on two-year, $26 million deal
Martinez was a valuable member of the Reds’ pitching staff in 2024, registering a 3.10 ERA over 142 1/3 innings -- including a 2.42 ERA over 11 starts after moving to the rotation full time in August. The right-hander has posted a 3.31 ERA across 152 appearances (35 starts) in three seasons since returning from a stint in Japan.

Emilio Pagán, RP, Reds
One year left on two-year, $16 million deal
Pagán made two trips to the injured list in 2024 and posted a 4.50 ERA over 38 appearances, up from a 2.99 ERA as a member of the Twins in 2023.

Wandy Peralta, RP, Padres
Three years left on four-year, $16.5 million deal
In his first year with the Padres, Peralta missed seven weeks due to a left adductor strain in 2024 and finished with a 3.99 ERA, his highest mark since 2019 (5.67).

Robbie Ray, SP Giants
Two years left on five-year, $115 million deal
After missing all but one start in 2023 while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Ray was traded from the Mariners to the Giants in January. He made seven starts with a 4.70 ERA and a 43-to-15 K/BB ratio over 30 2/3 innings in his return to the mound this past season.

Blake Snell, SP, Giants
One year left on two-year, $62 million deal
Snell got off to a rough start after signing with the Giants as a free agent shortly before Opening Day, but he turned around his season with a 1.23 ERA and a 114-to-30 K/BB ratio in 80 1/3 innings over his final 14 starts. The two-time Cy Young Award winner is expected to opt-out to test free agency again.

PLAYER OPTIONS

Nathan Eovaldi, SP, Rangers
$20 million player option ($2 million buyout)
Eovaldi’s player option vested when he reached a combined 300 innings over 2023-24. The right-hander posted a 3.72 ERA over 54 regular-season starts in that span and was pivotal during Texas’ run to the 2023 World Series title, going 5-0 with a 2.95 ERA in six starts. Entering his age-35 season, Eovaldi is likely to decline his player option and seek a multiyear deal in free agency.

Wilmer Flores, 1B, Giants
$3.5 million player option/$8.5 million club option
Coming off career highs in homers (23) and OPS (.863) in 2023, Flores experienced a severe drop in production this past season, recording four home runs and a .595 OPS over 71 games. If the veteran infielder declines his player option, the Giants will be able to retain him for $8.5 million if they so choose.

Clayton Kershaw, SP, Dodgers
$10 million player option
Kershaw returned from left shoulder surgery in late July but had to go back on the injured list with a bone spur in his left big toe after seven starts. If he opts to continue his esteemed career, the left-hander will likely do so as a member of the Dodgers.

Jordan Montgomery, SP, D-backs
$22.5 million player option
Montgomery was never able to get into a groove after signing with the D-backs as a free agent in late March. The left-hander finished the year with a 6.23 ERA, the highest among pitchers who threw at least 100 innings in 2024.

Hunter Renfroe, OF, Royals
$7.5 million player option ($1 million buyout)
After reaching the 20-homer mark in each of the previous six full seasons (2020 excluded), Renfroe went deep just 15 times over 120 games in 2024 while posting a .689 OPS.

Chris Stratton, RP, Royals
$4.5 million player option ($500,000 buyout)
Signed by the Royals after a solid 2023 season (3.92 ERA in 82 2/3 IP) between the Cardinals and Rangers, Stratton pitched to a 5.55 ERA with a 1.33 K/BB ratio over 57 appearances in 2024.

Michael Wacha, SP, Royals
$16 million player option
Pitching for his sixth team in six years, Wacha tossed 166 2/3 innings with a superb 3.35 ERA for the Royals in 2024. The 33-year-old will likely make yet another run at free agency this offseason.

CLUB OPTIONS

Jorge Alcala, RP, Twins
$1.5 million club option ($55,000 buyout); arbitration eligible through 2025
A 29-year-old right-hander, Alcala has appeared in parts of six seasons for the Twins and owns a lifetime 3.64 ERA with 165 strikeouts over 163 1/3 innings.

Austin Barnes, C, Dodgers
$3.5 million club option
Barnes has had a lengthy stint as the Dodgers’ backup catcher, appearing in parts of 10 seasons with the team and posting a career .223/.324/.339 slash over 599 games.

David Bote, INF, Cubs
$7 million club option ($1 million buyout); arbitration eligible through 2025
Bote played just 220 games and recorded a .666 OPS during his five-year, $15 million extension, which spanned the 2020-24 seasons.

Aaron Bummer, RP, Braves
$7.25 million club option ($1.25 million buyout)
Acquired from the White Sox on the heels of a rough 2023 campaign (6.79 ERA, 5.6 BB/9), Bummer bounced back with his new team, recording a 3.58 ERA with a 69-to-18 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings.

Andrew Chafin, RP, Rangers
$6.5 million club option ($500,000 buyout)
A 34-year-old lefty reliever, Chafin has pitched for six teams since the beginning of 2020, recording a 3.25 ERA over 275 appearances in that span. He had a 3.51 ERA across 62 games between the Tigers and Rangers in 2024.

Danny Coulombe, RP, Orioles
$4 million club option
Coulombe was limited to 33 appearances in 2024, as he missed more than three months after undergoing surgery on his left elbow to remove bone chips. The veteran southpaw has recorded a 2.56 ERA over 94 appearances in two seasons with the Orioles.

Travis d'Arnaud, C, Braves
$8 million club option
d’Arnaud went deep 15 times and produced a .739 OPS (103 OPS+) over 341 plate appearances this past season. The 35-year-old backstop has recorded 60 homers with a 103 OPS+ over five years with the Braves.

Seranthony Domínguez, RP, Orioles
$8 million club option ($500,000 buyout)
After six seasons with the Phillies, Domínguez was traded to the Orioles in July. The righty gave Baltimore’s bullpen a lift, collecting 10 saves in 11 chances while striking out 28 batters in 22 2/3 innings. He’ll enter his age-30 season with a lifetime 3.59 ERA and a 10.4 K/9 over 255 career appearances.

Kyle Gibson, SP, Cardinals
$12 million club option ($1 million buyout)
Gibson signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals last offseason and proceeded to record a 4.24 ERA over 169 2/3 innings in 2024, making at least 30 starts for the seventh time in his career.

Marco Gonzales, SP, Pirates
$15 million club option
Injuries have limited Gonzales to just 17 starts over the past two seasons, and he is expected to miss most of 2025 (his age-33 season) after undergoing left flexor tendon surgery in September. The veteran lefty has a career 4.16 ERA for the Cardinals, Mariners and Pirates over 10 seasons.

Luke Jackson, RP, Braves
$7 million club option ($2 million buyout)
After leaving the Braves to sign a two-year deal with the Giants in January 2023, Jackson was dealt back to Atlanta this past July. The 33-year-old righty finished the year with a 5.09 ERA over 52 appearances between the two clubs.

Eloy Jiménez, DH, Orioles
$16.5 million club option ($3 million buyout)
Jiménez’s career has gone sideways after a promising start, with the former top prospect battling persistent injury problems and recording a 107 OPS+ since the beginning of 2021. Jiménez had his worst season in 2024 (81 OPS+), which marked the final guaranteed year on the six-year, $43 million extension he signed with the White Sox before his MLB debut.

Merrill Kelly, SP, D-backs
$7 million club option ($1 million buyout)
Kelly recorded a 3.33 ERA over 378 innings in the regular season across 2022-23 and added a sparkling 2.25 ERA in 24 innings during Arizona’s 2023 playoff run, but the heavy workload caught up to him this past season. A shoulder injury limited Kelly to 13 starts in 2024, over which he posted a 4.03 ERA.

Brandon Lowe, 2B, Rays
$10.5 million club option ($1 million buyout)
Lowe had another productive season in 2024 (21 HR, 121 OPS+), but injuries were an issue once again. The second baseman has played more than 109 games only once in his career.

Lance Lynn, SP, Cardinals
$11 million club option ($1 million buyout)
After pitching for five teams over the previous six years, Lynn reunited with the Cardinals last November and went on to notch a 3.84 ERA in 23 starts. It was a solid rebound for the veteran righty, who led the Majors in homers allowed (44) while posting a 5.73 ERA between the White Sox and Dodgers in 2023.

Luke Maile, C, Reds
$3.5 million club option ($500,000 buyout)
Maile has played for five teams over nine seasons in the Majors, recording a .593 OPS along the way while never amassing more than 231 PAs in any year.

Manuel Margot, OF, Twins
$12 million club option ($2 million buyout)
Margot was traded twice last offseason, going from the Rays to the Dodgers alongside Tyler Glasnow before being dealt to the Twins. He ended up producing a career-low .626 OPS over 129 games for Minnesota.

Yoán Moncada, 3B, White Sox
$25 million club option ($5 million buyout)
The White Sox inked Moncada to a five-year, $70 million extension on the heels of his breakout 2019 season at the age of 24, but the switch-hitter has recorded 43 homers with a 99 OPS+ over 404 games since he signed the deal, missing 304 games in that time.

Phil Maton, RP, Mets
$7.75 million club option ($250,000 buyout)
Maton finished 2024 with a 3.66 ERA, including a 2.51 ERA over 31 games following a trade from the Rays to the Mets for cash considerations in July. The 31-year-old righty has notched a 3.50 ERA across 206 appearances since the beginning of 2022.

Keynan Middleton, RP, Cardinals
$6 million club option ($1 million buyout)
Middleton signed with the Cardinals as a free agent last offseason but didn’t make an appearance for the club in 2024, undergoing season-ending surgery to repair his flexor tendon prior to his debut.

Casey Mize, SP, Tigers
$3.1 million club option ($10,000 buyout); arbitration eligible through 2026
After missing nearly two full seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery and a procedure on his back, Mize returned to post a 4.49 ERA over 102 1/3 innings in 2024. The 2018 No. 1 overall Draft pick has thrown just 291 innings at the big league level with a 4.36 ERA.

Ryan O'Hearn, 1B, Orioles
$8 million club option
O’Hearn has posted a 122 OPS+ over 254 games in two years since the Orioles acquired him from the Royals for cash considerations, up from an 83 OPS+ across five seasons with Kansas City.

Marcell Ozuna, DH, Braves
$16 million club option ($1 million buyout)
Ozuna struggled over the first two seasons (83 OPS+) of his four-year, $65 million deal with the Braves, but he has been one of the top sluggers in baseball over the past two seasons, going deep 79 times with 204 RBIs and a .289/.364/.552 slash (148 OPS+).

Freddy Peralta, SP, Brewers
$8 million club option ($1.5 million buyout)
With Brandon Woodruff sidelined following right shoulder surgery and Corbin Burnes going to the Orioles in a February trade, Peralta took over as Milwaukee’s ace in 2024 and delivered his second straight 200-strikeout season. The 28-year-old righty has recorded a 3.49 ERA with the fourth-best K/9 (11.07) in the Majors (minimum 500 innings) since he became a full-time starter in 2021.

Cionel Pérez, RP, Orioles
$2.2 million club option; arbitration eligible through 2026
Pérez, a 28-year-old lefty, finished 2024 with a 4.53 ERA, his highest mark in three seasons with the Orioles.

Jorge Polanco, 2B, Mariners
$12 million club option ($750,000 buyout)
The Mariners have had trouble finding production at second base in recent years, and 2024 was no exception, despite their offseason trade for Polanco. The 31-year-old hit 16 homers but posted career lows in average (.213) and OPS (.651), down from a .269 average and a .780 OPS over 832 games with the Twins.

Colin Rea, SP, Brewers
$5.5 million club option ($1 million buyout)
After a six-year stretch that included multiple stints in Japan and saw him make just 10 appearances in the Majors, Rea has rejuvenated his big league career over the past two seasons. The 34-year-old was a solid innings-eater for Milwaukee in 2024, posting a 4.29 ERA over a career-high 167 2/3 frames.

Rob Refsnyder, OF, Red Sox
$2.1 million club option ($150,000 buyout)
Refsnyder has been a useful platoon bat for the Red Sox over the past three seasons, posting a .910 OPS in 363 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers (.681 vs. RHP).

Anthony Rizzo, 1B, Yankees
$17 million club option ($6 million buyout)
After post-concussion syndrome led to a steep decline in production and brought his 2023 campaign to a premature end, Rizzo had another difficult season in 2024. Injuries limited the first baseman to 92 games, and he hit just .228 with eight homers and a .637 OPS, his lowest since his 2011 debut season (.523) with the Padres.

Miguel Rojas, SS, Dodgers
$5 million club option ($1 million buyout)
Coming off a 69 OPS+ across 2022-23, Rojas didn’t seem likely to play a sizable role with the Dodgers in 2024. However, he became Los Angeles’ starting shortstop after Mookie Betts went down with a fractured left hand in June and held onto the job the rest of the year, with Betts moving back to the outfield upon his return from the IL. Rojas ended up producing 2.8 WAR (per FanGraphs), as he hit .283 with a 113 OPS+ while playing strong defense at short.

Max Stassi, C, White Sox
$7.5 million club option ($500,000 buyout)
A lifetime .212/.295/.361 hitter over 10 seasons, Stassi hasn’t played in the Majors since 2022 due to injury.

Eugenio Suárez, 3B, D-backs
$15 million club option ($2 million buyout)
Traded from the Mariners to the D-backs in November, Suárez struggled out of the gate in his first season with Arizona before making a remarkable turnaround. The third baseman entered July with a .591 OPS but put up a .974 OPS with 24 homers in his final 78 games, reaching the 30 home run plateau for the fifth time in his career as a result.

Brent Suter, RP, Reds
$3.5 million club option ($250,000 buyout)
Although he turned 35 in August, Suter remains a dependable option out of the bullpen. The lefty has recorded a 3.16 ERA over 244 games for the Brewers, Rockies and Reds since the beginning of 2019.

Lou Trivino, RP, Yankees
$5 million club option
Trivino underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2023 and dealt with further arm issues in 2024. He hasn’t appeared in the Majors since the 2022 ALCS.

Luke Weaver, RP, Yankees
$2.5 million club option
Primarily a starter over his first eight seasons, Weaver transitioned to a full-time bullpen role in 2024 and became one of the Yankees’ top relief options, taking over as the team's closer in September and finishing with a 2.89 ERA, 103 strikeouts and 26 walks over 84 innings.

Devin Williams, RP, Brewers
$10.5 million club option ($250,000 buyout); arbitration eligible through 2025
Williams has been one of MLB’s most dominant relievers since his 2020 rookie season, ranking second in ERA (1.70) and K/9 (14.64) and first in opponents’ batting average (.144) among pitchers with at least 200 innings in that span. The right-hander missed four months with a back injury in 2024, but it was business as usual after he returned, as he posted a 1.25 ERA with 14 saves and 38 K’s over 21 2/3 innings.
