The new prospect rankings are coming

This year will mark the 20th anniversary of prospect rankings on MLB.com, and 2024's set of lists is coming your way soon.

Back in 2004, the only ranking on the site was a Top 50 list that was led by future MVP and six-time All-Star Joe Mauer, who is now knocking on the door of Cooperstown. Now, 20 years later, the Top 50 has expanded to 100 and our rankings consist of a Top 30 list for each organization, Top 10 lists for each position, a Top 50 International Prospects list and a Top Draft Prospects list.

Our first rankings of the year -- the 2024 Top 100 Draft Prospects list and the 2024 Top 50 International Prospects list -- have already been released, but the bulk of this year's offerings will be rolled out over the course of the next several weeks, highlighted by the Top 100 list, which will be unveiled on MLB Network at 7 p.m. ET on Jan. 26.

Below is a rundown of each list and when it is scheduled to be released:

Jan. 16: Top 10 right-handed-pitching prospects
Jan. 17: Top 10 left-handed-pitching prospects
Jan. 18: Top 10 catching prospects
Jan. 19: Top 10 first base prospects
Jan. 22: Top 10 second base prospects
Jan. 23: Top 10 third base prospects
Jan. 24: Top 10 shortstop prospects
Jan. 25: Top 10 outfield prospects
Jan. 26: Top 100 prospects
