Tigers hit back-to-back HRs for 1st time in '18

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Tigers hit back-to-back home runs for this first time this season in the fourth inning of Thursday's 15-8 loss to the Twins at Target Field.
Mikie Mahtook launched his first homer of the season on a high 0-1 fastball from Minnesota starter Ervin Santana. The homer had an exit velocity of 103.9 mph, according to Statcast™.
Three pitches later, James McCann made Santana pay for another high fastball, sending a homer to right-center field that traveled an estimated 400 feet, according to Statcast™.
"I did not know that," Mahtook said, when told he and McCann were the first Detroit duo to accomplish the feat this year. "That was good, I'm glad we could do it."
McCann's homer gave Detroit three clouts for the game. Nick Castellanos' first-inning homer, which got the Tigers out to an early 2-0 lead, was followed by a massive bat flip that was caught by the home-plate umpire. Niko Goodrum then hit his 13th home run in the seventh inning.
