SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants activated one left-handed-hitting outfielder but lost another before their series opener Friday night against the Padres at Oracle Park.
San Francisco reinstated outfielder Mike Yastrzemski, who had been sidelined since April 28 with a left oblique strain, but placed Alex Dickerson on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder impingement.
Manager Gabe Kapler said Dickerson underwent an MRI exam that revealed a bone bruise in his shoulder, which the 30-year-old slugger jammed while making a diving catch against the Padres on Sunday. The Giants don’t have long-term concerns with Dickerson, who could be ready to return once he misses the requisite 10 days.

“There was no structural damage, but it was affecting his swing,” Kapler said. “We thought it was best to give him a little bit of a blow.”
Yastrzemski, 30, didn’t start against Padres left-hander Blake Snell on Friday, but Kapler said he could return to the lineup in the next couple of days.
The Giants also activated left-handed reliever Jarlín García (left groin strain) from the IL, giving them 13 pitchers and 13 position players on their 26-man roster. García took the spot of catcher Joey Bart, who was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
Bart accompanied the Giants on their recent road trip so he could spend time with Buster Posey and Curt Casali before the beginning of the Minor League season. The 24-year-old prospect went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in his Triple-A debut against Las Vegas on Thursday.
“It was good to spend a week with him,” Posey said. “When we were on the bench or not playing that day, I tried to sit with him and just talk. Not necessarily have a teaching session, but talk the game, see kind of what he’s thinking. It was good to have him around. I thought Joey seemed like he was in a really great place. I’m pulling for him and hoping he has a big year.”

Injury updates
• Right-handed reliever Reyes Moronta’s MRI exam earlier this week revealed a “mild sprained ligament” in his right elbow. The Giants are still determining the next steps of his rehab, but Moronta is expected to be down for a couple more weeks, at least. The 28-year-old has not pitched since April 10 due to arm trouble.
• Tyler Beede (Tommy John surgery) made his first rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday, completing two-thirds of an inning on 17 pitches. Beede faced five batters, struck out two and walked one. The Giants are hoping Beede will develop into a rotation option once he’s eligible to come off the 60-day IL on May 31. Rehabbing outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. (left oblique strain) also made his first appearance with Sacramento on Thursday, going 1-for-2 with a walk and playing five innings in center field.
• Right-hander Kevin Gausman is expected to come off the IL and start against the Padres on Saturday after missing three days with vaccine side effects.
• Right-hander Johnny Cueto (lat strain) remains on track to be activated on Sunday, but the Giants still haven’t decided how Cueto’s return will impact the rest of their rotation. The most likely option would be to shift Logan Webb back to the bullpen, which had been the Giants’ plan before Cueto got hurt last month.
