He’s a three-time MVP, a nine-time All-Star and a certain first-ballot Hall of Famer.
But Mike Trout’s passions go beyond baseball. This is a legend with talents outside the diamond. When he isn’t busy cementing his status as arguably the greatest player in the world, he’s displaying his uncanny skills as a meteorologist. He’s been known to slide into the DM’s of Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore. He's looking out for that post-MLB career.
While most players are looking for the comfort of the clubhouse in a torrential downpour, the Angels' superstar wasn’t looking for cover during Saturday's 4-0 loss to the White Sox. Standing at the plate with the rain pouring down, Trout’s smile displayed the happiness of two of his greatest joys coming together at once: baseball in a storm.
Look at that grin. Could he hit a homer and take a trot around the bases with the rain pouring down? White Sox pitcher Vince Velasquez seemed up for the moment, smiling at Trout’s enthusiasm. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, as home-plate umpire Larry Vanover didn’t share Trout’s affinity for playing baseball in a downpour.
With play halted, Trout and his teammates headed back to the clubhouse. The superstar undoubtedly furiously checked weather reports to give all teammates the inside scoop.
