ANAHEIM -- Mike Trout launched his American League-leading seventh home run of the season in the eighth inning of the Angels' 8-1 series-opening loss to the Giants on Friday night at Angel Stadium.
Trout crushed an 0-1 fastball from reliever Pierce Johnson to left-center field. The ball flew off his bat at 108 mph and traveled an estimated 414 feet, according to Statcast™. Trout has now homered in six of the seven series this season.
"I've just got to keep it going," said Trout, who added a single in the third to finish 2-for-3 with a walk. "My last few games, I feel good in some at-bats and some at-bats I don't, so it's just trying to be consistent and taking it into [Saturday]."
Trout's seven home runs this season trail only the Nationals' Bryce Harper, who leads the Majors with eight. The 26-year-old center fielder is now batting .286 with a .995 OPS and 14 RBIs in 20 games this year.
