What to know about the Mets-Phillies game
The Phillies are ahead of many prognosticators' expectations and in a fight for their first NL East title since 2011. Philadelphia entered Thursday two games back of the upstart Braves after holding first place for much of July and into the early part of August. After a hot start to the season quickly turned sour, the Mets have spent much of the summer evaluating what they'll have for what they hope will be a resurgent run in '19. The Phils, current owners of the NL's first Wild Card spot, are 22-21 against the rest of the NL East, while the Mets are 22-26 against division opponents.
New York will start Corey Oswalt, who has kept himself in the Mets' rotation with a 3.68 ERA over his last four starts, in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Philadelphia will counter with its No. 8 prospect, Ranger Suárez, who gave up four runs over five innings in his MLB debut July 26 at Cincinnati.
