ARLINGTON -- No offense in the Majors is feasting quite as mightily as the Mets are right now, a trend that continued in a 14-2 rout of the Rangers on Monday night at Globe Life Field. In pushing their winning streak to a season-best six games, the Mets amassed 22 hits and led the game from almost the moment it started.

Coming off an 11-6, sweep-earning victory against the Padres on Sunday, the Mets racked up hits quickly in Monday’s romp. Francisco Lindor led off with a single and scored on Pete Alonso’s single a few moments later. Lindor matched a season-high four hits, while Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, Mark Vientos and Francisco Alvarez each tallied three knocks.

Since May 30, the Mets have gone 12-4, slashing .300/.347/.500 with 35 doubles and 22 homers during that span. They have been drastically better than the 55 games prior, when they slashed .232/.304/.370 en route to a 22-33 record.

“It seems like we are in one of those stages where everything is coming our way,” Lindor said. “It seems like no matter what the pitcher is throwing, you have that confidence, you feel good, you are ready to to hit, you're ready to execute your plan. And then you get to the dugout, and ... you turn into a teammate, and you're so happy for the person that's hitting, you're pulling the same direction. It’s something that it's fun, it's beautiful.”

Lindor and Alonso already had two singles each by the time the Mets galloped to a safe lead in the second inning on DJ Stewart’s three-run homer. His towering fly to right, the loudest of nine Mets hits in the first two frames, put them up 7-0.

Nimmo answered a two-run Rangers third with a two-run shot in the fourth inning to keep the margin comfortably wide for lefty David Peterson, who allowed two earned runs on four hits in six innings to improve to 3-0 in four starts this season.

“It makes my job a lot easier,” Peterson said. “It frees you up to go out there and pound the zone ... I was just trying to get on and off the field as quickly as we could and let [the Mets hitters] do their thing.”

The Mets have won seven of the past eight games and 10 of the past 12, and their prodigious offense has led the way.

“This is what was envisioned when you put this lineup down on paper,” Nimmo said. “It’s tough throughout a season to get everybody to click at once, but right now, we’ve got a lot of guys from top to bottom putting up great at-bats. I just think that you ride that wave as long as you possibly can. We’ve got a lot of veteran guys on this team that understand that that’s not going to be forever, but you just try and keep it going.”

The Mets’ 22 hits were the most they had in a single game since Aug. 15, 2019, when they had 23 in Atlanta. No team has collected more hits in a game at Globe Life Field, in its four-plus-year history, than the Mets did Monday.

“We knew, at the end of the day, we’ve got good players, we’ve got good hitters,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said. “Just trusting our process and our preparation, we’re seeing the results now.”
