PHOENIX -- This time, Edwin Díaz finished things off.

A night after blowing a save in dramatic fashion in the eighth inning, Díaz nailed down the final three outs of the Mets’ 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday, which gave them a series victory and a 4-3 record over seven games against the Wild Card leaders out West. The Mets temporarily moved back within 3.5 games of the Braves for the final National League Wild Card berth.

New York received homers from Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor, the latter of those a game-tying shot in the sixth. Jose Iglesias then gave the Mets their first lead with an RBI single off Justin Martinez in the ninth.

José Buttó earned the win in relief of David Peterson, who allowed two runs over seven innings.
