Tuesday's Pirates-Tigers game postponed; twin bill Wednesday

DETROIT -- The Pirates have assembled one of baseball’s most formidable pitching duos in Jared Jones and Paul Skenes. Thanks to Mother Nature, the hot-hitting Tigers will face them both on the same day. Tuesday night's series opener between the two clubs was postponed due to inclement weather, setting up a traditional doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at Comerica Park.

Jones is scheduled to start for Pittsburgh in Game 1, beginning at 12:40 p.m. ET. Skenes is slated to start Game 2, which will begin about 40 minutes after the first game ends. It will be the fourth doubleheader of the season for the Tigers. Both games will air on Bally Sports Detroit and MLB.TV, and they are also available on 97.1 The Ticket and the Tigers Radio Network.

Tigers' rainout policy

Tarik Skubal will start Game 1 for the Tigers. The club did not announce a Game 2 starter, but No. 7 prospect Keider Montero is expected to be promoted as the 27th player to make his Major League debut. Matt Manning, who was optioned to Triple-A Toledo on Friday, has started every other makeup doubleheader as the 27th player for Detroit.

Tickets for Tuesday’s rainout can be exchanged for Wednesday’s doubleheader or any future game this regular season. For more information, visit tigers.com/rainout.

Military Appreciation Night, which was scheduled for Tuesday night, will be rescheduled for a future date. Fans who purchased the Military Appreciation ticket package will be contacted by a member of the Tigers' ticket sales department.
