Bite-handed pitcher: Scherzer has run-in with dog
Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer has often been referred to as a bulldog on the mound, but he was on the wrong end of an encounter with one of his own dogs, when it got a little too tenacious.
Scherzer was bitten on the right hand by one of his four dogs, but the ace said in a tweet that the bite was mild and "will have no effect on my rehab."
Scherzer is currently recovering from a left oblique strain and is forecast to return in July.
This news comes just two days after shortstop Francisco Lindor had to sit out Thursday’s game against the Dodgers after getting his right middle finger caught in a hotel door the night before. Lindor was diagnosed with a slight fracture at the tip of the finger but returned to the team’s lineup on Friday.
