Kepler, Arenado win Player of the Week honors
After hitting better than .500 and slugging several home runs apiece last week, the Twins' Max Kepler and the Rockies' Nolan Arenado were named MLB's Players of the Week presented by W.B. Mason on Tuesday.
Kepler took home the American League honors, and Arenado won for the National League.
Kepler led the Majors in all three slash line categories during the week, with a .571 batting average, .600 on-base percentage and 1.190 slugging percentage, giving him an MLB-best 1.790 OPS. The 26-year-old right fielder homered three times to help the Twins continue their power surge -- Minnesota has an MLB-best 105 home runs on the season -- and he led the Majors with 10 runs scored and tied for the Major League lead with 10 RBIs.

Arenado was right behind Kepler in batting average (.538) and slugging percentage (1.077), leading the NL in both categories, good for a league-best 1.632 OPS for the week. The 28-year-old third baseman hit four home runs, most of any NL hitter last week, and reached a milestone when he slugged the 200th homer of his career on Saturday. Arenado also drove in nine runs and scored seven.
