Blister forces Fried to 10-day injured list
MILWAUKEE -- The Braves placed left-hander Max Fried on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a blister on his left index finger. The move comes a day after the 25-year-old picked up his 10th victory of the season in Atlanta's 4-2 win over the Brewers.
In a corresponding move, the club recalled right-hander Bryse Wilson from Triple-A Gwinnett. Wilson, 21, made his fifth start of the season on Tuesday night at Miller Park.
Manager Brian Snitker said it was better to address the issue rather than risk a recurrence.
"He was going to miss a start, so I think if we stay in front of this and get it back healed -- he went a long time without that being an issue at all," Snitker said. "The fact that it is very evident there, we just don't want it to be something that lingers for two months. So I think we just back him off and get it good, and hopefully this will be the end of it."
Fried was in the midst of his most effective start since late May, tossing five scoreless innings before he was removed with a 3-0 lead Monday night.

Fried also spent time on the injured list last July with a blister, a problem that also bothered him in the Minors.
"I’m glad he said something," Snitker said. "I don’t know if it was the second or third inning, I thought I saw him look down and I was like, ‘Uh-oh,’ and then just kind of didn’t pay any more attention to it.
"I’m glad he did because when I looked at it, I thought, well, if he tried to keep pitching and that thing tore, it was going to be a while."
