MILWAUKEE -- It took one game for Padres second baseman Matthew Batten in his return to the Majors to pull off something rarely seen.
In Sunday’s series finale against the Brewers, Batten crushed a solo homer in the second inning off Adrian Houser. But just as impressive as the 376 feet it traveled was the home run’s landing spot.
The ball came to a rest on top of the outfield wall in left field at American Family Field -- a rarely seen, perhaps first-of-its-kind occurrence in the ballpark’s 23 seasons.
For comparison, Padres catcher Gary Sánchez hit a home run two batters before Batten, and it caromed off the green wall behind the outfield fence.

San Diego recalled Batten from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday in the wake of Jake Cronenworth’s fractured wrist. Sunday’s home run was the second of the 28-year-old’s career.
