A little over a month ago, a fun trend surfaced as the Marlins began to compile the best record in the Majors during the ensuing 31-game stretch.

Following their series-opening victory over the Angels on May 26 in Anaheim, a selfie of Marlins center fielder Bryan De La Cruz appeared in the team's social media graphic celebrating the 6-2 win.

"I remember she told me, 'Let's take a selfie,'" De La Cruz said via interpreter Luis Dorante Jr. "I was the 'hero of the game.' She did it one time. I think the fans liked it, and we continue doing it. Now, we're going to keep doing it."

That she would be content queen Sarah P., who, along with director of social media Hernan and intern Mia, decided to find a creative way to celebrate the ballclub's success.

"I think that most teams do use photos from the game, which is great, but it's all kind of on-field stuff," Sarah said. "So, I think in efforts to continue to get people closer to the team, so that they feel like they're with us, having a personality pic always beats having something that's on the field.

"When we win, you're always going to see a series of photos come out that are all game related, but we wanted to make sure as a social team that the first thing you saw when you read that Marlins win at the top is something that exudes the feeling that the team is having in that moment. And the same way that admin's feeling at that moment."

It started as just one player of the game, but it has evolved to include even more guys. While the club goes through its postgame handshake line, Marlins marketing and communications staffers will divide and conquer trying to grab players after they speak to Marlins Radio and Bally Sports Florida's sideline reporter. Someone else might head back into the clubhouse to find the starting pitcher. It's a team effort.

Sarah's favorite is the June 19 shot including the largest group to date: De La Cruz, Garrett Cooper, Jonathan Davis, Archie Bradley, Jorge Soler, Luis Arraez and Jesús Sánchez. That 11-0 victory over the Blue Jays was arguably the most complete win of the season, with Arraez finishing 5-for-5, Soler going deep, the offense tallying a season-high 19 hits and four pitchers combining on a shutout.

"It almost felt kind of weird to not include all of them because we won together, so we started to kind of gather some more of the guys that had top highlight moments in the game, brought them together for the selfie," Sarah said. "People seem to like those a lot more than they do single photos, actually. They like to see the camaraderie, and what you see on the field of all them getting together is the same thing that we experience in the clubhouse with them."

Some guys like A.J. Puk aren't natural selfie takers, so Sarah will have them pose -- not just cheesing -- to show off their personal style. Last Sunday, Puk and Davis put hands to their bearded chins. Others like Jean Segura are naturals.

"If you're in that photo, it's because you did something special in the game," Segura said. "That's a fun thing to do. I think this game is so hard, and I think a lot of times you need stuff like that to continue to have fun."
