Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton blasted his first home run of Spring Training on Monday, taking Mets right-hander Rafael Montero deep in an 8-2 loss at Roger Dean Stadium.
The solo shot came on a 3-1 pitch, and cut through a stiff wind down the left-field line to land well over the fence and just inside the foul pole.
Stanton, who led the National League with 37 homers in 2014 -- his last full season -- has hit 54 in 692 at-bats over the past two seasons, each of which was shortened due to injury.

Stanton also won the 2016 T-Mobile Home Run Derby in San Diego, hitting 20 homers in the final round to defeat defending champion Todd Frazier, who hit 13. Stanton's average home run distance in the contest was 446 feet.
