Mariners offer unique experiences for auction
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Looking for the perfect Christmas gift for the ultimate Mariners fan in your family?
How about the chance to be on the Mariners grounds crew for a game at Safeco Field? Or watch batting practice before a game with manager Scott Servais? Or spend an inning in the broadcast booth with Rick Rizzs and the gang?
Those are some of the dozens of items from the 30 Major League teams available this week in the sixth annual online charity auction during the Winter Meetings. The event has raised more than $900,000 since its inception to aid various cancer causes.
This year's auction supports the Katherine Feeney Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of one of baseball's female pioneering executives. Feeney died in April after more than 40 years with MLB, and the fund will support an annual scholarship to a female student in the sports management program at the University of San Francisco who exemplifies Feeney's spirit and character.

Among the possibilities are a chance to have lunch with Dodgers star Yasiel Puig, meet Yankees star Aaron Judge and spend a game sitting in the "Judge's Chambers" at Yankee Stadium, play catch in the outfield at Wrigley Field or have a meet-and-greet with various players like Mike Trout, Carlos Correa and Joey Votto.
The Mariners items are:
• Four tickets behind home plate for any game (other than Opening Day), along with the chance to watch batting practice on the field pregame while meeting Servais.
• Four tickets to a game behind home plate (other than Opening Day) for a group that wants to spend an inning in the broadcast booth.
• Two box seat tickets to a game (excluding Opening Day) for friends or family to watch the person -- who must be 16 or older -- chosen to work with the Mariners grounds crew for an entire day, including setting up the field pregame, dragging the infield during the game and taking in the bases postgame.
