LLWS batter hugs pitcher after HBP to helmet in touching moment
Acts of sportsmanship are one of the best parts of the Little League World Series, helping to remind us all what baseball is about at its purest form.
Tuesday’s Southwest Region championship game provided a touching moment between opponents following a scary scene on the field in the bottom of the first inning.
After hitting Oklahoma’s Isaiah Jarvis in the helmet on a pitch that clearly got away from him, Texas East pitcher Kaiden Shelton was visibly shaken up. Jarvis, who stayed on the ground momentarily before heading to first base, noticed this and began walking toward the mound, where he embraced Shelton and gave him some words of encouragement.
“Hey, you’re doing just great,” Jarvis appeared to tell Shelton as he was joined by some of the pitcher’s teammates and his coach.
