What do Little League coaches talk about on the mound?
In the heat of the moment of competition, it’s important to stay loose. Media Little League (Pa.) nailed it.
While leading in the third inning of a Mid-Atlantic Regional contest against Northwest Washington Little League (D.C.), Media manager Tom Bradley and the infield gathered by the pitcher’s mound with two outs. But they didn’t exactly end up talking about strategy.
Instead, Bradley started to tell a story about a dog stealing a rosin bag before one of the players snuck in a "Hi, Mom." Clearly these aren’t kids who are afraid of the ESPN cameras.
The loose attitude paid off for the Pennsylvania squad, which won, 16-3, to advance to the Mid-Atlantic Regional championship game on Friday. The winner advances to the 20-team Little League World Series, held in Williamsport, PA.
Media will face off against the winner of Northwest Washington and Middletown (Del.), who play on Thursday. Once all the regional winners are decided, the Little League World Series bracket will get underway on Aug. 16.
