As he looks to make a remarkable return to the field following a January diagnosis of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, White Sox closer Liam Hendriks is meeting the media at Guaranteed Rate Field to discuss his recovery.
Hendriks, who announced on April 20 that he was cancer-free and in remission, struck out four batters in extended Spring Training last week, and he's slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte at Gwinnett on Friday.
"It was like the cancer never stopped him. He's always grinding," White Sox reliever Reynaldo López said. "I saw him throwing bullpens in that situation, you just kind of tip your hat. Doing that, it's like after everything that happened, he's strong no matter what."
