MIAMI -- Voters in the Liberty City section of Miami on Tuesday were greeted by a special visitor.
Marlins outfielder Lewis Brinson joined in the organization’s “Feed the Polls” initiative during Election Day. The Marlins, in partnership with UNKNWN, provided 4,000 meals to select Miami polling locations in Liberty City and Little Havana.
Brinson assisted in the distribution at Liberty Square Community Center on Tuesday afternoon.
A South Florida native from Coral Springs, Fla., Brinson sported a T-shirt that read: “One City. One Team. United.”
“We are out here supporting people to vote,” Brinson said. “Obviously, this is a big election, a big time in our lives. I’m just encouraging people to get out here and vote, giving out some free meals as [people] get out of the voting center.”
A Miami-based community platform, apparel label and retail concept destination, UNKNWN has created a lifestyle shirt that will benefit “Feed The Polls,” the Miami Marlins Foundation’s Voting Initiative.
Brinson sported that shirt on Tuesday.
“It’s a big day in America’s history,” Brinson said.
“Feed the Polls” is a continuation of the Marlins’ efforts to raise awareness for social justice and racial equality.

Being from South Florida, Brinson stated during the 2020 MLB season that he planned to be more community oriented.
“It means everything to me,” the outfielder said. “I didn’t grow up in Miami, but I grew up [near] Fort Lauderdale. Obviously, South Florida is all connected. Just to see these families out here and voting. It’s definitely important for me to be out here, showing support.”
The Marlins, and all of MLB, have urged all citizens to make their voices heard at the ballot boxes.
“The Marlins are showing we’re all in,” Brinson said. “We’re all in with the community. We’re trying to give back as much as we can.”
