D-backs' No. 1 prospect added to player pool
The D-backs added outfielder Kristian Robinson -- the team’s top prospect per MLB Pipeline -- to the club’s 60-man player pool on Thursday. Arizona assigned Robinson to its alternative training site at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Robinson, 19, signed with the D-backs for $2.5 million as an international prospect out of the Bahamas in 2017. He earned midseason All-Star honors in the Class A Short Season Northwest League last year before advancing to the Class A Midwest League, where he was more than three years younger than the circuit's average player.
Robinson is seen as an impressive athlete who could display average or better tools across the board in the Major Leagues. He has immense power from the right side of the plate and has already shown an ability to spray the ball around the field. Scouts believe he ultimately projects to be a corner outfielder once he grows into his 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame.
