Getting a foul ball at a Major League game is one of the most exciting experiences a young baseball fan can have. We've all seen the great reactions of kids who end up getting that coveted baseball that has been hit or tossed into the stands.
On Friday night at Yankee Stadium, a young girl tried to catch a ball tossed into the stands by Yankees third-base coach Phil Nevin in the seventh inning of New York's game against Cleveland.
But the ball bounced and landed in the hands of a boy behind her. Suddenly, what had seemed to be a missed opportunity for the girl to go home with a ball used in a Yankees game became a beautiful moment of pure generosity -- the boy handed the ball to the girl's mom, who then gave it to the girl.
With everything that happens at a ballgame, these are the moments it's truly about. That young man gets it, and kudos to him for the generous gesture.
