TORONTO -- Khris Davis left Sunday afternoon's 9-2 win in Toronto with a right groin strain after grounding into a double play in the fourth inning.
Davis appeared to tweak his groin on a check swing earlier in the at-bat, and he jogged very slowly down the first-base line on the double-play grounder. He immediately went down the tunnel toward the A's clubhouse at Rogers Centre.
Manager Bob Melvin did not yet have a timeline for Davis, who will be re-evaluated after the A's travel back to Oakland to begin their homestand against the Mariners on Tuesday.
"He didn't feel a pop, which is encouraging," Melvin said. "But typically those things aren't one or two days."
After going 0-for-2 on Sunday, Davis is hitting .235 with an .804 OPS and 13 home runs in 2018.
Matt Joyce entered the game in the fifth inning to pinch-hit for Davis, taking over as the A's designated hitter.
The injury put a slight damper on Oakland's win, but Melvin won't let it overshadow the club's four-game sweep of the Blue Jays and a successful road trip.
"It doesn't take anything out of [the road trip] -- we accomplished what we accomplished," Melvin said. "Going forward, we'll see what we have with him."
