Kevin Pillar has made a career out of defying the odds in the outfield. Saturday, he put those defensive skills on display yet again.

Pillar robbed Ryan Mountcastle of an extra-base hit in the fifth inning at Camden Yards, forcing the Orioles’ No. 5 prospect to wait at least one more at-bat before collecting his first Major League hit.

Mountcastle lined a 1-2 curveball to right field, where Pillar took off in an effort to chase down the ball. Pillar made a leaping grab at the warning track, slamming his left shoulder into the wall a split-second after making the catch. He stayed on the ground for a second or two to catch his breath before getting up.

The catch came one night after Pillar made a five-star diving catch in foul territory on a Pedro Severino fly ball.
