Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier exited Saturday's 6-3 loss to the A's in Oakland in the second inning with what the team announced was a left wrist sprain. X-rays were negative.

Kiermaier was visibly hurt after he was caught stealing second base, rolling around on the infield dirt and holding his left arm before walking off the field with a trainer.

Should Kiermaier be out for an extended period of time, it would be the latest unfortunate injury for the Rays, who placed catcher Francisco Mejía on the 10-day injured list on Saturday morning with left intercostal discomfort.

“We’ll see how he feels tomorrow morning, but I know he’s pretty sore and he might be sore for a couple days now,” manager Kevin Cash said after the game.
