Gregg receives Fishel Award for PR Excellence

SAN DIEGO -- Kevin Gregg has been known as one of baseball’s best people in public relations for years.

Major League Baseball recognized him for that reputation on Monday, when it announced he is the recipient of the 2022 Robert O. Fishel Award for Public Relations Excellence. The award goes to the “active, non-uniformed representative of Major League Baseball whose ethics, character, dedication, service, professionalism and humanitarianism best represent the standards propounded by Robert O. Fishel.”

Fishel was an executive with the Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Browns, New York Yankees and American League office of MLB. He was the award’s inaugural recipient in 1981.

Gregg just completed his 16th full-time season in baseball, including seven with the Phillies. He worked full-time for the club beginning in 2007 before joining the Red Sox in 2012. He rejoined the Phils before the 2022 season as the vice president of baseball communications.

Gregg grew up in Philadelphia, graduating from Episcopal Academy before he graduated from James Madison University in 2003. He his wife Stephanie live in the Philadelphia suburbs with their sons Oliver and Samuel.

Kevin is the son of the late Eric Gregg, who was a longtime National League umpire.
