Tigers designated hitter Kerry Carpenter exited Game 4 of the American League Division Series against the Guardians with a left hamstring injury on Thursday at Comerica Park.

Carpenter appeared to injure himself while scoring on Wenceel Pérez's RBI single in the sixth inning. The television broadcast showed him wincing as he rounded third and starting to hobble as he approached the plate. Jace Jung pinch-hit for Carpenter when the DH spot came up in the seventh inning.

Carpenter was the Tigers' hero in Game 2 when he hit the game-winning three-run home run off All-Star closer Emmanuel Clase in the ninth inning.
