Soto feels the pain on foul off foot, then inflicts it with huge 2-run homer

Juan Soto ignored the pain and came up huge for the Yankees on Wednesday night, launching a go-ahead two-run home run in the sixth inning just moments after he had fouled a ball off his foot.

It wasn't exactly Kirk Gibson, but it was certainly a home run the Yankees desperately needed with their offense being shut down by Royals left-hander Cole Ragans. After Soto pounded the ball off his foot, he was down near the foul line for several minutes while getting checked out by team trainers. But the tough outfielder, who has played in 142 of the Yankees' 146 games this season, was not to be deterred.

He got back to the plate and finished the at-bat with a no-doubter into the right-field stands. Soto put a bat flip flourish on the blast -- which got him to the 100-RBI mark on the season -- and then took his time on his home run trot, likely with his foot still smarting.
