TRADE DETAILS
D-backs acquire: 1B Josh Naylor
Guardians acquire: RHP Slade Cecconi, Competitive Balance Round B Draft pick
Moments after news of the deal broke, a source told Feinsand that the Guardians have agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with veteran first baseman Carlos Santana, who has played 10 of his 15 big league seasons in Cleveland and won the first Gold Glove Award of his career in 2024 with the Twins.
Picked 12th overall in the 2015 Draft by the Marlins, the 27-year-old Naylor reached career highs with 31 homers, 108 RBIs and 152 games played in 2024 in Cleveland, where he played alongside younger brother Bo Naylor.
Naylor, an All-Star for the first time in 2024, has slashed .243/.320/.456 in his six-year career and will serve as the D-backs' instant replacement for free agent Christian Walker, who spent the past 10 seasons in Arizona but has agreed to a three-year deal with the Astros, according to a source.
The 25-year-old Cecconi just completed his first full season, posting a 6.66 ERA across 20 outings (13 starts) with Arizona.
