Urena (shoulder) likely to rejoin rotation midweek

MIAMI -- José Ureña's recovery is on schedule, but the Marlins still plan to give their veteran right-hander a few more days of rest before he rejoins the rotation.
Urena is on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation and is eligible to be reinstated on Monday. The organization isn't in such a hurry, and the club expects to bring him back sometime next week.
"He's not pitching Monday," Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. "Tuesday would be the first day he would be able to pitch, in our minds."
Physically, Urena is just about ready. He threw a bullpen session on Friday, and he has a light bullpen session scheduled for Sunday.
"I'm just waiting," Urena said. "I have a few pitches [Sunday], and we'll see how that looks and get back soon."
The Marlins' rotation has been in flux the past couple of weeks. Miami added prospectsSandy Alcantara and Pablo López, who both were promoted from Triple-A New Orleans. Dan Straily's suspension ends on Saturday, and the veteran will start on Sunday in the series finale with the Mets.
The rotation also endured a setback when Caleb Smith sustained a Grade 3 left lat strain. The left-hander will undergo season-ending surgery on July 9 in Philadelphia.

The tentative rotation has Wei-Yin Chen lined up for Monday against Tampa Bay, with rookie Trevor Richards and Alcantara matched for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Mattingly noted that Elieser Hernandez is expected to go back to the bullpen.
"We've got some decisions to make," Mattingly said. "Jose threw his 'pen yesterday. He feels pretty good today. He will throw another light, touch-and-feel one tomorrow. Then, based on that, it's a matter of where we're going to place him. But we do expect him somewhere in the middle of the week to be ready to pitch."

If Urena starts on Wednesday at home, that would mean Alcantara could be pushed to Thursday at Washington. Or Alcantara could go on Wednesday, with Urena facing the Nationals.
Alcantara made his Marlins debut on Friday in the Marlins' 8-2 win over the Mets. The 22-year-old gave up one run in five innings.
Counting his Minor League innings, Alcantara is at 90 for the season.
"His innings are not really a concern," Mattingly said. "They've been on a six-man rotation in Triple-A, to give them plenty of innings and they can still finish the year."

Worth noting
Outfielder/first baseman Garrett Cooper (right wrist) and third baseman Martín Prado (left hamstring) continue their rehab assignments. Cooper is at New Orleans and Prado is at Class A Advanced Jupiter.
"I think that's a good possibility we can see both guys before the break, as long as there are no setbacks," Mattingly said.
