Jerry Seinfeld calls homer and kid's ecstatic catch

What's the deal with Jerry Seinfeld? Well, you likely know that he loves white sneakers, breakfast cereal, and he is head-over-heels madly in love with the Mets. So, on Wednesday night, Seinfeld was invited to the Mets booth to chat for a bit in the bottom of the fourth inning. While there, Michael Conforto blasted a home run to right-center field and Seinfeld got to deliver his play-by-play call.

"Oh, that is well struck," Seinfeld said, adding "and ... gone," which is surely his signature call now.

Even better than the home run call was the reaction afterward. After the ball bounced in the seats, it arced its way back toward the field and landed directly in Krish Sud's glove. Sud was there with his travel team, the 10U Plainview Hawks and had arrived at 5 p.m. for batting practice to watch some dingers and hopefully snag a ball. (Coincidentally, the son of one of our MLB co-workers is teammates with Sud and was in the scrum celebrating the grab.)

Though Sud had received a ball from the Marlins bullpen earlier in the game, his excitement for getting a home run ball -- the greatest of all souvenirs -- was contagious.

"The little kid caught it. That's fantastic," Seinfeld exclaimed. "And he had another ball in his glove anyway! That's the greatest!"

Yes, for all his success and all that he's done, Seinfeld still knows there's nothing better than catching a home run ball while surrounded by your friends.
