MILWAUKEE -- The Cardinals placed infielder Jedd Gyorko on the 10-day disabled list with his second hamstring injury in two seasons and recalled outfielder Harrison Bader from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.
Gyorko had two hits and was hit by a pitch in Monday's 8-4 victory over Milwaukee before leaving the game with a strained right hamstring, sustained on his second hit of the game.
"Don't know the severity, but we knew pretty quick when he came off the field," manager Mike Matheny said before Tuesday's game. "He's a tough guy, not a lot of injuries. This hamstring thing he's had before, though, so it heightened our concern. But it was pretty clear that it would probably take a little bit of time. How much, we're not sure of."

Gyorko missed 15 games with a right hamstring strain late last season.
Bader rebounded after a slow start in Spring Training and finished on a strong note.
"I told him as we sent him down, you had a good enough spring to make our club," Matheny said. "It was just a matter of more versatility than anything else, and we want him to be ready in case something happens. Something happened, and now he's here."

Bader, the Cardinals' Minor League Player of the Year in 2017, made his Major League debut last season, appearing in 32 games, hitting three home runs in his first 11 games in the Majors.
Bader, 23, posted a .283 batting average with 20 home runs at Memphis last season. The right-handed hitter appeared in 21 games this spring, batting .313 (15-for-48), and he finished second on the team with seven Grapefruit League doubles.
"He struggled a little early, which is a great time to struggle," Matheny said of Bader in Spring Training. "And to watch how he worked with the hitting coaches, trying to get back to a good feel, what it was. Those are great learning opportunities, especially for a guy that hasn't struggled that much.
"At every level, he's been pretty consistently good," Matheny said. "So you don't have that deep well of resources to go to to help you get out. But it's going to happen again, it just is. For him to have that ability to now know, and also for our coaches to know, 'Hey, this is where you were before, this is how we get back.' And then to watch how he finished. He was swinging the bat as well as anybody that we had."
