Lowrie collides with Piscotty, later exits game

SAN FRANCISCO -- A's second baseman Jed Lowrie is considered day to day after suffering a bone bruise in his left lower leg during Friday night's 7-1 loss in San Francisco.
The newly named All-Star was involved in a collision in the third inning, running into right fielder Stephen Piscotty while backpedaling to snag a weak fly ball off the bat of Alen Hanson.
"Hopefully avoided something major," Lowrie said. "It's sore, but I'm able to get around on it, so hopefully that's a good sign."
Lowrie drew a visit from A's head athletic trainer Nick Paparesta after the collision, ultimately electing to remain in the game. He struck out in the fourth inning and was removed from action ahead of the home half of the fifth, replaced at second by Chad Pinder. Khris Davis assumed Pinder's place in left.
"Just got a little sore as the game went along, so we got him out of there," A's manager Bob Melvin said after the game. "We'll see how he's doing tomorrow."
Said Lowrie: "It just tightened up a little bit. It feels better now than it did when I came out of the game. Hopefully that's a good sign."
