The Marlins received a spark back to their lineup on Sunday, as Jazz Chisholm Jr. was activated from the injured list after rehabbing from a left hamstring strain that had put him on the shelf since April 28.

Chisholm went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in the 3-2 win over the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. He struck out in his first two at-bats before singling twice.

“Jazz looked pretty good,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. “His timing seems to be easy. He's loose at the plate in his movements. He's smooth and his timing's pretty good. So he missed a little time. I didn't think it was going to bother him too much. … Obviously he stole a bag. He's not feeling any ill effects.”

Chisholm had provided some noise to Miami’s lineup before he went down with the injury. He was hitting .290 with a .926 OPS through his first 21 games of the season to go along with a 154 wRC+, second on the ballclub behind Starling Marte (156 wRC+ in 19 games), according to Fangraphs.

The return also marked just the third time this season that the rookie has started at shortstop.

The IL stint also came at a time when Chisholm had hit .327 with four home runs, six RBIs and four doubles during the 15-game stretch prior to his injury.

During his rehab stint with Triple-A Jacksonville, Chisholm slashed .444/.500/.889 with a home run and four RBIs in nine at-bats.

Miami was searching for answers on offense Saturday, when it was shut out by the Dodgers and struck out 10 times against starter Trevor Bauer. As a team, the Marlins have averaged 3.1 runs per game over their last six games coming into Sunday.
