Fiery Kelenic ropes 2 HRs in Triple-A debut

Jarred Kelenic, the No. 4 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline, made his much-anticipated Triple-A debut for Tacoma against El Paso on Thursday night, and you can bet Mariners fans were keeping tabs.

Suffice it to say, Kelenic looks ready for the Majors.

After going 6-for-20 with two homers during Spring Training with the Mariners, the 21-year-old outfielder launched a pair of homers in his debut with the Rainiers. And talk about being fired up -- Kelenic's trot following his first homer, a fifth-inning liner over the right-field wall at Cheney Stadium, was brisk and he was pumped rounding third as he made his way towards home to score Tacoma's first run of the season.

Kelenic's second blast of the evening came in the seventh. It was another solo shot to right, this time a towering drive well beyond the fence to tie the game, 2-2.

Kelenic is ticketed for the big leagues in 2021. It's just a matter of time -- and that time could be very soon.
