deGrom to pitch Tuesday -- maybe for Mets

After a rehab appearance with Low-A St. Lucie on Thursday night, Jacob deGrom is expected to pitch again on Tuesday, but the Mets have not yet decided which club deGrom will be pitching for, manager Luis Rojas said on Friday. deGrom's status will be monitored for the next few days before a decision can be made on whether he will need another Minor League rehab outing before being activated by the Mets.

deGrom, who has been out since May 11 with right side tightness, struck out eight of the 10 Palm Beach batters he faced in his rehab outing Thursday.

Wherever he pitches, deGrom will be throwing on regular rest when he takes the ball on Tuesday.

deGrom has made only one start for the Mets this month, pitching against the D-backs on May 9 after being scratched from a start on May 4 against the Cardinals due to right lat inflammation. deGrom exited his start against Arizona after five innings with tightness in his right side and was placed on the IL.

The two-time Cy Young Award winner has been brilliant this season, recording a 0.68 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 40 innings.
