MIAMI -- Jacob deGrom, often the victim of low run support during his 2018 National League Cy Young Award campaign, knocked a leadoff homer against Marlins right-hander Trevor Richards in the third inning on Wednesday night at Marlins Park.

deGrom ambushed a first-pitch, 89.7 mph fastball, depositing it a projected 383 feet into the Mets' bullpen in right field. According to Statcast, the home run had a 102.4 mph exit velocity, with a 35-degree launch angle.

It was deGrom's second career tater, the other coming on June 18, 2017, off Nationals right-hander Joe Ross.
