Jackie to be on special MLB The Show cover
Jackie Robinson will be on the cover of the MLB The Show 21 Collector's Editions.
The special Jackie Robinson Edition of the game will feature a black-and-white photo of Robinson on the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers, with only the Dodgers blue of his uniform colorized.
MLB The Show isn't just honoring Robinson's legacy by putting him on the cover of the game. PlayStation will also donate $1 to the Jackie Robinson Foundation for every MLB The Show 21 Collector's Edition sold in the U.S. through the end of the year.
You can preorder the Jackie Robinson Edition of MLB The Show 21 now, as well as the regular edition of the game, which has Padres phenom Fernando Tatis Jr. on the cover.
Preorders of the Jackie Robinson Edition include four days of early access to the game starting on April 16 -- the day after MLB's annual celebration of Jackie Robinson Day.
With the donations from the MLB The Show 21 Collector's Editions, the Jackie Robinson Foundation -- which was created by Robinson's wife Rachel in 1973 -- will establish the JRF MLB The Show Scholars program in partnership with PlayStation.
Scholars in the JRF MLB The Show Scholars program will receive four-year scholarships and support services like career guidance and internship placement. More information on the Jackie Robinson Foundation programs is available here, and more information on applying to be a JRF MLB The Show Scholar will be announced in November.
MLB The Show's announcement of the Jackie Robinson Edition of the game on Wednesday comes three days after Robinson's birthday -- he would have been 102 on Jan. 31 -- and as the U.S. celebrates Black History Month.
