The independent arbitrator sided with the Mets in the salary arbitration hearing against third baseman J.D. Davis, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand on Friday, meaning Davis will earn $2.1 million in 2021. He sought $2.475 million. The team has not confirmed the results of the hearing.

Davis is lined up to see significant time at third base for the Mets in the coming season. He played left field for the majority of his breakout 2019 campaign (.895 OPS, 22 home runs), and he was at the hot corner for 33 of his 52 starts in '20, when he hit .247 with six home runs.

Davis was the third Mets player to go to an arbitration hearing in the last half-decade but just the fourth in the past 28 years.
