Getting called up to the Majors for the first time is an unforgettable moment for every Minor Leaguer who receives that opportunity.
Orioles prospect Gunnar Henderson (MLB Pipeline's No. 2 overall prospect) got that surprise Tuesday when he found out -- while waiting for his burger order -- that Baltimore was planning to call him up to The Show.
The 21-year-old had just placed his order when he was called into Norfolk Tides manager Buck Britton’s office. Britton delayed the reveal a bit, discussing the team's defensive plans for Henderson for the next couple days, before giving him the big news, which brought a big smile to the youngster's face.
And yes, Henderson eventually received his order of two bacon cheeseburgers, according to fellow O’s prospect Colton Cowser.
The Orioles officially selected Henderson's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday morning.
