Guardians-Yankees game postponed Friday; doubleheader set for today

CLEVELAND -- Carlos Carrasco’s return to the Progressive Field mound in a Guardians uniform will have to wait an extra day.

Due to inclement weather, the series opener between the Yankees and Guardians on Friday has been postponed to Saturday afternoon. The two teams will now play a split doubleheader Saturday, with the makeup game beginning at 12:10 p.m. ET before the regularly scheduled contest at 6:10 p.m. ET.

The Guardians will have Carrasco start Game 1 and then turn to Triston McKenzie in Game 2. For the Yankees, Clarke Schmidt will take the ball in Game 1 while Cody Poteet will take the mound in Game 2.

Because it’s a split doubleheader, fans will need tickets to each game if they want to see both contests. Those holding tickets to Friday’s matchup will be able to use them to enter the 12:10 p.m. ET game on Saturday. If fans are unable to attend the matinee, they can exchange their Friday tickets for one of 45 different game options on CLEGuardians.com/mytickets by Saturday at noon ET.

To attend the evening contest, fans must have tickets for the Saturday 6:10 p.m. ET game. Gates for the matinee are scheduled to open at 11 a.m. ET and will open again at 5 p.m. ET for the nightcap.
