Guardians vs. White Sox PPD; makeup on Sept. 15
CLEVELAND -- For the 12th time this season, the Guardians were postponed due to rain.
While it wasn’t actively raining at the time Sunday's finale between the White Sox and Guardians was officially postponed, the field collected so much water over the previous few hours that the field was deemed unplayable. The two sides waited for nearly three hours after the originally scheduled first pitch to see if the field would drain, but not enough progress was made to get the contest in at Progressive Field.
The makeup will be on Thursday, Sept. 15, at noon ET.
Those who were supposed to be in attendance for Sunday’s matchup can exchange their tickets for one of the remaining 22 home dates. Tickets must be exchanged by Sept. 15 at noon. Exchanges can start being made on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET. If fans encounter any issues, they can call 216-420-HITS.
For the Guardians, they’ll have to wait two more days to see if Aaron Civale’s success since returning from the injured list can continue. Civale, who was scheduled to pitch Sunday, will now toe the rubber in Tuesday’s series opener in San Diego. Zach Plesac, who was supposed to pitch Tuesday, will get pushed back further in the rotational plans.
Here’s how the starters will line up over the next two series:
Tuesday: Civale at San Diego
Wednesday: Cal Quantrill at San Diego
Thursday: Triston McKenzie at Seattle
Friday: Shane Bieber at Seattle
Saturday: Plesac at Seattle
Sunday: Civale at Seattle
